PETA- People Eating Tasty Animals

Peta has been a center of controversy lately. Here are 10 reasons why PETA is an absolute hypocrite and useless organization.

1. In India, they have annual profits/ donations of around 8 crores out of which around 80% is spent only on staff salaries, plush offices, promotions, media, advertisements, protests, naked celebrities doing various protests, etc. A very little amount is actually spent on welfare and saving the lives of animals.

2. When I was in junior college, I had tried to fill out PETA volunteer form. In the form, they stated accepted only Vegans and Vegetarians. So, I wasn't able to apply as a volunteer and use my skills just because I used to eat eggs at that time. This means PETA suggests that Non-vegetarian people lose the right to take care of animals. Now I am happy that I never got associated with them.

3. They Euthanise 97% of the pet animals present in animal shelters under the name of compassion. Instead of saving these animals, they choose to literally kill them stating lack of funds. Their adoption percentage is only around 1%.

4. They gave awards and praised various actresses like Sonam Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, Dia Mirza. Among these Sonam Kapoor was spotted flaunting expensive crocodile leather, snakeskin handbags, leather boots on several occasions. Shilpa Shetty uploaded many turkey and chicken recipes on her youtube channel right after getting the award. While Dia Mirza says on twitter that she never eats chicken biryani but only mutton biryani is best.

5. In 2015, they gave Pope Francis, the "PETA Person of the Year" award while it is a known fact that Popes in the Vatican city have a 24-course veal meal regularly. Veal is the utmost cruel form of meat which is extracted from 18-20 weeks old calves. Calves reared for veal production are subjected to very harsh treatment. PETA has even mentioned it on their own website.

6. They hamper the process of Scientific development by stating that animals should not be used for researching of vaccines and life-saving drugs. Precious and most important vaccines have been prepared after animal trials alone, if today's "animal ethics parameters" were to be applied, humanity would not have existed. Even most of the PETA people must have taken medicines that were tested on animals, hence they should not take a moral high ground. They do not realize that these animals are actually saving many more lives.

7. They start whining and preaching as soon as an Indian festival is around. They care that you must not "apply color to animals" on Holi. They preach you to not burst crackers and threaten the animals on Diwali. On Nagpanchami they tell everyone about superstitions related to snakes. Basically, they start shouting and campaigning around. While they remain absolutely mum on occasions like thanksgiving and Bakri eid. Instead on their website, they have mentioned how you can sacrifice a goat "peacefully".
Recently they attacked Rakshabandhan with hoardings that stated "THIS RAKSHABANDHAN GO LEATHER FREE". Netizens started trolling peta saying that they had never heard of a leather Rakhi and it was absolutely absurd to make a connection between Rakshabandhan and saving cows. Cows are considered sacred in Hindu tradition and there was absolutely no need to preach. 

8. Recently, Shefali Vaidya, writer, and activist challenged peta to put up a hoarding related to saving goats on bakri eid. She promised to turn vegetarian and donate to peta if they put up the hoarding. To this PETA remained mum. But they targeted Shefali and continuously tweeted and even called her a snake. 

9. They fail to acknowledge the fact that they have NO GUTS to say anything related to saving animals on festivals of other religions. A few days back, for the very first time, they put up a hoarding related to saving goats in Lucknow which was immediately removed after getting threats.They even apologised saying it was not related to a particular religion.

10. They have dubious foreign funding. They even do not accept the fact that Chairperson of PETA India is a foreign national named Ingrid Newkirk. On live television they failed to state who their chairperson was. When asked how many Cows they have actually saved, they remained mum.

They nagged and harassed a great man Steve Irwin who dedicated his entire life in saving and conserving wildlife in Australia. They even insulted him after his death. While the fact was that he actually died while saving an animal.

Here is the proof of their insanity. They equated rape of a cow by man to a scientific process of Artificial insemination ! Hilarious.

A few years back, in 2005, there came on television an interesting show called "The Great Indian Laughter Challenge" on a channel called star one. It was an interesting new concept for Indians. Two bangladeshi women

2003- Bangladesh Taslima Nasrin's book "Amar meyebela" was released. I came across that book in 2017. Till then Taslima for me was only a writer who gave controversial statements about religion to gain attention. But when I read that book I realised how courageous she was to go against her own people to point out to the world what wrong was happening in Bangladesh. My respect for her increased as I came to know she was also a physician who held an MBBS degree and how she faced struggles as a lady doctor. Her thoughts written in 2003 still felt valid in 2017 some of them even relevant to Indian conditions. As a result of her courageous writings she faced several threats. Her own family abandoned her.
